COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference announced their 2011 football academic teams Tuesday.
Senior linebacker
Jacob Cross (Bakersfield, CA/Centennial HS) was named to the second-team defensive squad. The Bakersfield, Calif., native leads the Mustangs in total tackles (56), solo stops (22), while adding five tackles for loss, one sack, two quarterback hurries and a forced fumble.
Cross holds a 3.32 GPA and is majoring in criminal justice.
To qualify for Academic All-RMAC, student-athletes must have a grade point average of 3.30 or better, be a starter or reserve, and completed two consecutive semesters or three quarters at their current institution. Their cumulative G.P.A. is what they had earned prior to football season beginning. RMAC Sports Information Directors at schools that sponsor the sport of football selected first and second teams.
